Hotel operators show ROI success
August 21 2009
The travel industry show solid results after adopting a mobile strategy. Not only airlines such as American Airlines, Lufthansa and British Airways are providing their on-the-go customers with mobile boarding, hotel operators are increasingly jumping into the mobile channel as well.
Recently the Marriott released impressive figures since the launch of their mobile site in 2008. The Marriott International mobile site provides hotel directory, reservation and cancellation options which generated a staggering $2 million in gross revenue in a short time window of only six months.
Competitive hotel operators have followed swiftly; Omni hotels’ site grew 85% with conversion rates up to 25% (compared to online: 3,5 – 7%) and the Hilton’s mobile channel generated a 22% ROI (with a tiny 1% of their distribution budget). It’s clear that loyal travelers who are often on the go have adopted mobile as an easy tool to manage their itinerary.
